TCU Frogfans

For true enthusiasts of Texas Christian University (TCU) athletics, the term ‘Horned Frogs’ isn’t just a mascot or a symbol – it’s an identity. The TCU Frogfans, fiercely passionate and incredibly loyal, have stood by their team through thick and thin, wearing their purple pride with an unwavering spirit. But how much do we really know about the history of our beloved Horned Frog? Let’s dive in.

A Historical Affair

The TCU website reveals an interesting tidbit: The Horned Frog was first introduced as the title for the university’s 1886 yearbook. This moniker, rooted deep in TCU’s history, became an institution in its own right. Even today, the TCU library proudly displays editions of The Horned Frog Yearbook, with archives dating back to 1905. Legend also has it that the football field was once home (quite literally) to these horned lizards, making their presence felt during the team’s early years.

Tank Carder: A TCU Legend

Tank Carder is a name that resonates deeply with the TCU Frogfans. During his tenure at the university, Tank not only exemplified athletic prowess but also showcased leadership, determination, and heart.

The Immaculate Deflection

Among the countless plays and moments that define TCU’s football history, one stands out – the “Immaculate Deflection.” In the 2011 Rose Bowl, with the weight of the game resting on his shoulders, Tank showcased his impeccable defensive skills. In a moment that had every TCU Frogfan on the edge of their seats, Carder batted down a crucial two-point conversion pass. This not only ensured TCU’s victory but also earned him the title of Defensive MVP of the Game. A play forever etched in the annals of TCU history.
